Panel quilt - Call of the Wild by Hoffman fabrics

I found this amazing panel in the Pacific Fabrics and just have to have it. I made it into a baby quilt and it just looks darling and a bit on the wild side. I paired it up with the Disappearing Hourglass Block from the Missouri Star quilt company (check them out on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXggafOP230). Had lots of fun with this quilt. Quilted it with clear nylon thread using simple meandering pattern.

Restoring a treasure: antique basket quilt

This lovely quilt came in in a very sorry shape. Quilt top was hand stitched around 1930s using cotton and linen scrap and was recently washed by the new owner, which unraveled some of the blocks to shreds. I was ready to give up, but my friend Sharon made replacement blocks using reproduction fabrics and brought this beauty back to life. I have densely quilted it and it should last for another 100 years. I am very excited about this project, the end result brings joy to my heart.

Tshirt quilt

This has been a busy time for t-shirt quilts. This is just another good example of what you can do with the pile of t-shirts:

I have used clear thread on the top, so it does not clashes with high contrast between the blocks.

Mary's Quilt - We plant the seeds, but He provides the harvest

Mary brought me a gorgeous needle turn applique king size quilt. Most of the "plain" sections of it was finished with the computer, but the applique part was finished using free hand technique using my brand new micro handles! Soooo exciting. I love this quilt, I cannot even imagine how long did it take to piece this masterpiece. Also who would think that you can put 2 layers of Warm and Natural? It has been a learning and fun process for me.

 

Frozen Quilt

It must be a Winter again. My younger one, Yasmin, is a big Frozen fan, so she got Elsa and Anna quilt for her Birthday. I found all the fabrics at the Pacific Fabrics in SODO and it was a big hit. I am working on a few other adaptations, because I found Olaf fabric at Joanns. I put Breath of God pattern on it in white and I think it came out simple, but elegant. And the most important, customer was very satisfied:)

Jenna's T-shirt quilt

What a wonderful idea to turn all your memories into a beautiful and practical gift for yourself. Jenna brought me 20 t-shirts from her past and left with a lovely quilt. I used black for sashing and polyfil for top thread. Reduce, reuse and recycle at its best:)

Baby girl quilt

I had a cute quilt top for sometime now. And of course it is a baby season!!! So my husband decided that he really likes to give a quilt to his friend (his baby girl actually). Did I mention that he decided 3 days before he left for a project?! So 72 hours later, quilt it quilted, bound and I even had 2 hours of sleep before giving my husband a ride to the airport. Some people call it crazy, I call it love for quilting:) Anyway, lesson learned: never let your husband take pictures for the blog.

Christie's quilt

I made a quilt for my dear friend Christie. She is doing so much for my family and I think my kids would rather stay at her place then home. I used "Soda Pop" pattern in browns and turquoise. Large Loop-D-Loops for quilting. Looking back, I think I like this pattern in the monochromatic interpretation.

Sharon's quilts and table runners

Finally Summer is here. In a quilter's world it is a season when some time I think I forget the meaning of word "quilting". The weather is nice and the Christmas is too far away.., My friend Sharon was super nice and made an effort to put couple of tops together to keep me sane. Both of the tops are BOMs and very subtle. I used variegated auburn on the orange quilt and brown on the "Founding Fathers" quilt. I liked the way orange quilt is set. The asymmetrical setting disguises the fact that blocks are slightly different in size. It all worked together at the end, all quilted, bound and ready to go:)

Blue quilt by Melanie

Melanie envisioned a quilt for her daughter graduation, but was running short on time. I helped her to put together a twin sized quilt that has something old (cut outs of the baby blanket), something new (fabrics with tennis rackets) and something blue (pretty much the rest of the quilt). I doctored a pattern from the magazine and came up with a twin quilt made from 20 fat quarters. For the long arm I used "star" pattern to connect that star pieces from the crib size quilt. It will make a sure hit in the dorm.

American Girl quilt

After visiting American Girl store I was very inspired to make my own American Girl quilt. Miriam picked up a fabric and the design, and we put it together in the matter of hours. I was very thrilled with the result. I quilted "busy bees" pattern in pink. I think I might be making a matching twin size quilt:)

Sharon's flower quilt

This another stunning quilt from my friend Sharon. I just love the colors and the unique setting. Absolutely gorgeous, I wish I took better pictures. I chose flower pattern for the quilting in variegated pink. Lovely.

Baby boy quilt

Just another fast an easy creation. This is a quilt for a baby boy that I made on a whim. It is bright and colorful. And of course, all about sports! It was already plenty busy, so I did meandering in white, so it does not feel overwhelming.

Auction project

I put together a table runner that was sold at a school auction. This is an amazing effort on behalf of the kids. I transferred their drawings of the birds to the blocks and embroidered by hand. I put invisible nylon thread, so it would not clash with the birds.

Sharon's quilt

My friend Sharon graced me with another one of her quilts. This one is unique. I think we changed a plan of putting it together maybe 15 times in one day. At the end we came out with a twin size quilt with the pieced borders. I put 3 leaf pattern in brown and it plays nicely with complex and busy blocks. Check out the back of the quilt, "unique" is written all over it:)

Emily's Quilt

What a busy month! Emily brought me a quilt that her mother-in-law pieced and what a wonderful job she did! In a king size quilt I don't think there was any 2 points that did not match, and did I mention flawless borders? I hope some of this perfection will somehow make it into my quilt one day. I put a new pattern, "hot coffee", in white, and I think it looks great.

Tracy's Quilt

I was helping Tracy with an auction quilt. 24 kids tried their hand in designing quilt squares and it turned out very unusual, but very attractive at the same time. I used Polyfil on the top and white on the bottom. If you wonder what those words are, they are "likes" of the 3rd graders (and one person does like school!). Great project and I hope it will sell.

Canuck's Quilt

This is my best quilt yet (mostly because it has 50 embroidered squares). Blue thread on top and bottom. Pictures speak for themselfs. It will be a while until I will make another one. I have put fleece on the back and it was acting funny, but at the end it all worked out.

 



Miriam's quilt

And yet another shrine to Hello Kitty. This simple quilt was done in a day, I hust like the colors and the simplicity of it. Pattern for the quilting was Playful Kitties in variegated pink. In the back I put very soft fleece which makes extra warm.

Sharon's quilt

I have quilted another quilt for my friend Sharon. I did mention a few times that she is a great piecer, you can REALLY tell in this quilt. There is plenty of 1.5" triangles, and they just "happen" all match at the corners. Anyway, I was planning to do a bit more contrast on the quilting, but decided to go turquoise medallions on white and turquoise on turquoise in the squares. Border is geometrical motif in white. White thread is in the back, I do use a lot of white... I love the quilt, this is my all time favorite!
